The Black Abbott is located in the town of Montrose, Angus. Montrose lies between the mouths of the North and South Esk rivers. With a population of approximately 12,000 people, the town functions as a commercial port for the oil and gas industry and is a wealth of architecture and a centre for international trade. Montrose is also home to a 3 mile long sandy beach which provides excellent views from Montrose golf course which was built on top of the dunes. The town has excellent transport links via train and buses and is on a direct route via A935 to Dundee and Perth. Pub Layout Access from the main road will take you into the main bar. This open plan area is complete with a small sports corner which is home to a pool table and gaming machines with a small seated area for people /teams to observe. This U-shaped area of low level bench seating alongside some loose tables and chairs, faces towards the bar and dance floor area and creates a warm, yet sociable, relaxing atmosphere. This area is perfect for private functions and charity events and also has a separate entrance. There is a small car park to the rear of the building with spaces for approximately 6/8 cars.
