Montrose is also home to a 3 mile long sandy beach which provides excellent views from Montrose golf course which was built on top of the dunes. The town has excellent transport links via train and buses and is on a direct route via A935 to Dundee and Perth. Pub Layout Access from the main road will take you into the main bar. This open plan area is complete with a small sports corner which is home to a pool table and gaming machines with a small seated area for people /teams to observe. The main bar area has a mixture of low level, benched and loose seating and is complete with low beamed ceilings and open fireplace manages to balance the traditional features alongside more modern decor to create a fantastic social area. There is a separate exit to the enclosed outside area where a small smoking shelter alongside benched seating provides the perfect outside meeting point especially in the summer months. The foyer by the pool table area leads to the toilet areas and also provides access to the function room which backs onto the main bar area can seat up to approximately  70/80 people. This U-shaped area of low level bench seating alongside some loose tables and chairs, faces towards the bar and dance floor area and creates a warm, yet sociable, relaxing atmosphere. This area is perfect for private functions and charity events and also has a separate entrance. There is a small car park to the rear of the building with spaces for approximately 6/8 cars.

The Black Abbott is a popular community local offering an excellent range of  food and drink. Site is currently trading well and offers an fantastic food menu alongside an excellent range of premium drink offers. Located in an extensive residential area, the Black Abbot is community focused, very much involved in local charity events and has a huge following for live music.
