Property Description

The Prince of Wales is a handsome, detached public house at the top of the beautiful market town of Ross-on-Wye, situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean and the rolling Herefordshire countryside. The large trading area accommodates over 80 covers spread over three distinct sections, an extensive beer garden and large car park. The market town of Ross has over 12,000 residents within a two-mile radius of the pub, and the site also benefits from the many tourists brought to the area by the Forest of Dean and the River Wye. We require an experienced food-led operator to take the reins of this established business.

Private Accommodation: Three-bed managers flat on the first floor in need of decoration but plenty of space for a family to put its mark on the accommodation.

Trading Style

Indoor trading area

This business is a two room operation, which was refurbished in June 2017 and has a pleasing combination of modern and traditional finishes. The main lounge to the front of the property is the heart of the pub and has a very fine fitted back bar servery. This spacious trading area holds monthly live music acts, open mic and quiz nights, as well as providing a casual space for approximately 50 drinkers and diners. To the rear of the pub is the restaurant or function room area that leads onto a fully equipped catering kitchen.

Outdoor trading area

With central steps up to a small patio to the front of the property, this first outdoor trading space is eye-catching to passing trade and can accommodate around ten covers. To the rear is a substantial gravel car park with space for around 20 vehicles. Adjacent to this is a large, lawned beer garden furnished with picnic tables which provides a lovely spot to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat in fine weather.

Regional Manager Comments

This pub attracts a mixture of regular drinkers and diners of all ages. With a designated restaurant and fully equipped kitchen, there is significant scope to develop the existing food offering. This is an ideal opportunity for a publican with experience of a food led business and a passion for meeting the needs of the local market by delivering great pub food at great prices.
