The pub is located in St Marychurch which lies on the outskirt of Torquay, a popular seaside town. Babbacombe Bay is a short distance away and offers many attractions and self-catering apartments and Devon cottages bring lots of trade to the area and the pub itself. The Crown is particularly popular for live music and the selection of cask ale, both are which are integral to the success of the business and should be continued by the new publican. The public bar and comfortable lounge area are the two key trading areas of the pub with a function room situated on the first floor. Stonegate Pub Partners are now looking for an experienced wet-led publican who understands the cask ale market and can utilize the pubs function room to re-establish the live music events and entertainment.

Private Accommodation: The private accommodation is split over two floors, on the first floor is three double bedrooms, one of which could be used a lounge with a separate bathroom and office area. On the second floor is another large double bedroom. This space is well presented and would be well suited to a family or couple.

Indoor trading area

The pub has two entrances, to the left is the delightful main bar area which has 20 covers and the left is a more relaxed lounge area which has a cosy log fire and comfortable seating. The pub also has a function room situated on the first floor which is a very good size and has capacity for 40 guests, this space caters well for music events and private hire. The décor is traditional wood and stone with the ceiling adorned with chamber pots, pennants and other interesting paraphernalia.

Outdoor trading area

The rear beer garden is cosy and has seating for 15 guests, a popular spot during the summer months. There is a convenient on-site car park with four spaces for guests to use.

The Crown and Sceptre is a community-based pub excellently positioned in one of the oldest settlements in South Devon. I am looking for an experienced wet led publican who understands this market and is proficient in cask ale management, the pub has historically offered a good selection of real ales. The pub has previously hosted live music events in the function space, this should look to be reintroduced to increase revenue and drive footfall.
