Kitchen Steward - Full time, Permanent

We’re on the lookout for a Kitchen Steward to join the Food team at our award winning offices in Wolverhampton on a permanent 35-hour week Monday- Friday contract. (Will also include occasional evening work for functions)

With your proactive and hard-working mindset, you’ll be right at home in our state-of-the-art food development kitchen. You will have experience in cooking, along with maintaining high levels of cleanliness and food safety standards ideally in a commercial kitchen.

Have you got what it takes?

The kitchen is not a trading kitchen but used for menu development & sampling, training our General Managers and Chefs, and for any in-house events. This role supports a number of functions across the business and therefore has a variety of responsibilities including:
 
- Maintaining Kitchen Standards - from opening & closing the kitchen each day through to maintaining the 5* EHO standards required for a showcase kitchen
 
- Effective Stock Control  - from ordering the required stock for the different departments & activities and receiving the deliveries through to completing stocktakes and managing stock in hand to reduce wastage.
 
- Kitchen Organisation - making sure the kitchen is fully prepped for any menu development days, supplier presentation days and panelling sessions, ensuring all products are available  so we have a structured organised approach. 
 
- Practical cooking support - your opportunity to roll your sleeves up! The Kitchen Steward will be supporting in the following ways: 
 
  • Menu Development panelling sessions - cooking of any products, ensuring that they are cooked to correct manufacturers or Marston’s specification methods.
  • Technical and Procurement panelling sessions –  assisting relevant Technical Manager in cooking and reviewing products.
  • Product testing – Working closely Menu Development to create cooking instructions for kitchen specifications on new products.
  • Quality Assurance Specifications – working with the New Product Development Manager and Menu Development Manager, assisting with the creation of product specifications.
